My primary interest is to explore areas where I’m not likely to run into other people. I’m also interested in finding abandoned infrastructure such as roads or buildings. I do a lot of highway driving and at some point I would like to travel across large portions of Canada via car, checking out back roads and areas not frequented by tourists.
Specific highways I plan to drive:
- Highway 16 between Prince Rupert and Edmonton, Alberta. This is an extremely long stretch of highway that goes across northern BC and Alberta and would be part of a multi-day trip
- Highway 37 north of Highway 16 into the Yukon
- Highway 93 south of Jasper, Alberta to Golden, BC and south on highway 95/93 to Highway 3, following east across Alberta border
- Following Highway 16 or 1 across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba
- Highways 1/19/18/4/28 across Vancouver Island
Other destinations:
- Northern California and also Yosemite National Park
- Yellowstone National Park via Montana/Wyoming (recently done, plan to go again)
- Glacier National Park in northern Montana
