Where I’m Going

My primary interest is to explore areas where I’m not likely to run into other people. I’m also interested in finding abandoned infrastructure such as roads or buildings. I do a lot of highway driving and at some point I would like to travel across large portions of Canada via car, checking out back roads and areas not frequented by tourists.

Specific highways I plan to drive:

  • Highway 16 between Prince Rupert and Edmonton, Alberta. This is an extremely long stretch of highway that goes across northern BC and Alberta and would be part of a multi-day trip
  • Highway 37 north of Highway 16 into the Yukon
  • Highway 93 south of Jasper, Alberta to Golden, BC and south on highway 95/93 to Highway 3, following east across Alberta border
  • Following Highway 16 or 1 across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba
  • Highways 1/19/18/4/28 across Vancouver Island

Other destinations:

  • Northern California and also Yosemite National Park
  • Yellowstone National Park via Montana/Wyoming (recently done, plan to go again)
  • Glacier National Park in northern Montana
